The 4LV is the modern common-rail performance four, from 150 up to 250 horsepower of clean, quiet acceleration, and the engine that replaced the well-loved 4LHA.
It’s a fully electronic engine, so proper diagnostics matter. As a Yanmar dealer we’ve got the SmartAssist software to read them correctly.

Straight from the workshop
Tether the key to the sea cock
If you close the sea cock for the engine every time you leave the vessel, leave the engine key tethered to the sea cock handle. You physically cannot start the engine without opening the water first.
Let it warm up
Always let your engine warm up before working it. A few minutes at the dock gives the oil time to circulate, and you will get a better service life out of the engine for it.
