Yanmar Commercial marine propulsion
Yanmar 6HY-WET(ETE)
Commercial-duty six · Continuous-duty commercial power

The 6HY is Yanmar’s heavier commercial six, the continuous-duty engine built for the boats that work for a living, from ferries and charter fleets to workboats.
This is the deep-end work we’re known for. We rebuilt fourteen Sydney Ferries engines in ten months, and commercial power is where we’re at our strongest.
Who it’s for: Commercial operators running a 6HY-WET or 6HY-ETE, ferries, charter fleets, workboats and hard-working launches.

How we can help
Phil’s tips
Straight from the workshop
Tether the key to the sea cock
If you close the sea cock for the engine every time you leave the vessel, leave the engine key tethered to the sea cock handle. You physically cannot start the engine without opening the water first.
Let it warm up
Always let your engine warm up before working it. A few minutes at the dock gives the oil time to circulate, and you will get a better service life out of the engine for it.
