The 6LF is the newest six in the Yanmar range, a common-rail six-cylinder up to around 550 horsepower, built for the fast planing boats that want the top of the line.
Newer and fully electronic, it needs dealer-level diagnostics done right. We read it with SmartAssist and look after it from the first service to a full rebuild.
Who it’s for: Powerboat owners running a 6LF530 or 6LF550, sportsfishers, cruisers and fast launches.

Straight from the workshop
Tether the key to the sea cock
If you close the sea cock for the engine every time you leave the vessel, leave the engine key tethered to the sea cock handle. You physically cannot start the engine without opening the water first.
Let it warm up
Always let your engine warm up before working it. A few minutes at the dock gives the oil time to circulate, and you will get a better service life out of the engine for it.
