The GM series is the little Yanmar auxiliary that’s pushed generations of sailboats in and out of the marina, one, two and three-cylinder engines from around 9 to 27 horsepower.
They’re simple, tough and worth keeping alive. Parts and know-how for the older engines can be hard to come by elsewhere, not here.
The GM series is an older range, but there are thousands still working away in yachts around Sydney, and we keep them going.
Who it’s for: Owners of smaller cruising and racing yachts running a 1GM10, 2GM20 or 3GM30 auxiliary.

Straight from the workshop
Tether the key to the sea cock
If you close the sea cock for the engine every time you leave the vessel, leave the engine key tethered to the sea cock handle. You physically cannot start the engine without opening the water first.
Let it warm up
Always let your engine warm up before working it. A few minutes at the dock gives the oil time to circulate, and you will get a better service life out of the engine for it.
