Yanmar JH Series – Common Rail

39–110 hp · Modern common-rail power for cruising yachts

Official Yanmar common-rail JH series marine diesel engine

The common-rail JH is the modern face of Yanmar’s best-loved cruising engine, electronic three and four-cylinder diesels from around 39 up to 110 horsepower, smoother and cleaner than the mechanical JHs before them.

Because they’re fully electronic, they reward proper dealer diagnostics. As a Yanmar dealer we read them with SmartAssist and fix the cause, not the symptom.

Who it’s for: Cruising yacht and powerboat owners running a common-rail 3JH40, 4JH45, 4JH57, 4JH80 or 4JH110.

Phil’s tips

Straight from the workshop

Tether the key to the sea cock

If you close the sea cock for the engine every time you leave the vessel, leave the engine key tethered to the sea cock handle. You physically cannot start the engine without opening the water first.

Let it warm up

Always let your engine warm up before working it. A few minutes at the dock gives the oil time to circulate, and you will get a better service life out of the engine for it.
