The mechanical JH is the engine that does the miles, the three and four-cylinder workhorse across the JH2, JH3, JH4 and JH5 generations, from around 39 up to 75 horsepower.
We know the mechanical JH inside out. Whether it’s routine servicing, a stubborn fault or a full rebuild after a long life, this is bread-and-butter work for us.
The mechanical JH spans the JH2, JH3, JH4 and JH5 generations, the pre-common-rail engines that still make up a huge slice of the cruising fleet.
Who it’s for: Cruising yacht and light powerboat owners running a mechanical 3JH or 4JH, from the older JH2 and JH3 through to the 3JH5E and 4JH5E.

Straight from the workshop
Tether the key to the sea cock
If you close the sea cock for the engine every time you leave the vessel, leave the engine key tethered to the sea cock handle. You physically cannot start the engine without opening the water first.
Let it warm up
Always let your engine warm up before working it. A few minutes at the dock gives the oil time to circulate, and you will get a better service life out of the engine for it.
